DOXA S.A. is a Swiss watchmaking company that was founded in 1889 by Georges Ducommun in Le Locle, Switzerland. The company started as a small family business, producing high-quality timepieces with precision movements. Doxa also began as a maker of dress watches and other timepieces. Over the years, Doxa gained in size and branched out into other timekeeping markets.
One of DOXA's most significant contributions to watchmaking was the development of the first diving wristwatch. In the late 1960s Doxa decided to devote resources to create a watch to be used for diving. For that, Doxa consulted with divers, including Jacques Cousteau, then chairman of "U.S. Divers," and Claude Wesly (a Cousteau companion and the first man to spend seven days thirty-three feet underwater). A staff of engineers and professional divers was assembled to create a watch with the required features. Tests indicated that an orange face was more visible in murky water.
In 1967, DOXA introduced the Sub 300T Conquistador, a professional diver's watch that was water-resistant up to 300 meters. The watch quickly gained popularity among divers and enthusiasts, and DOXA became one of the leading producers of diving watches.
Throughout its history, DOXA has continued to innovate and produce high-quality watches, including the popular DOXA Sub series. The company has also been recognized for its commitment to social responsibility and sustainable practices. In 2018, DOXA became a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, which promotes ethical, social, and environmental practices in the jewelry industry.
Today, DOXA S.A. remains a respected name in the world of luxury watchmaking and continues to produce high-quality watches with precision movements and innovative designs.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
